The Cycle

He walks the streets
saying he will never become a part
of this cycle

His dreams are big,
his goals are high.
He says he wants
to be different.
He wants to be
the first in his family
to beat the cycle.
He wants to go to college.

The cycle is strong
he is fighting
trying so hard not to fall in
that he has neglected
the small things.
Soon he is in the cycle
stealing, lying, cheating.

Once realizing he is caught
all hope of gone
now it becomes
a battle of survival.

She says she will not
fall into the cycle.
She will not become
like her mother.
She proclaims
she will not get pregnant
until she sees her dreams
as a reality.

She is swept off her feet
by the guy,
she believes
is her knight in shining armor.
He fancies her
with gifts of affection.

She believes she has found
The one who will protect her
love her, and be there forever.
She focussed her attention
on the big things
she missed the small things.
She begins to allow her heart to love
without boundaries.

Now realizing the one who
promised to protect her,
Love her, and be there forever,
has instead used her,
abused her and bruised her
forever.

Now caught in this cycle
All hope is gone.
She must drop out of school
and forget her dreams
to raise a child
that did not ask
to come into this cycle.
Now she is in this
fight for survival.

Thinking there is only
one option for her,
She begins to sell herself
to pay the bills.

If only they believed
it could happen to them.
And listened to the One
that lvoed them.
The One who had been
knocking on the door
to change their lives forever.

Now if someone could only
show them they are loved.
And that love is the first step
to the breaking of this dreadful cycle.

Fun Tutoring, riding bikes and cops pointing guns!!

So I am a part of a simple way community in Cedar Grove. So I go to what we call the white house on days that I can and tutor kids who just need some love and reassurance. So today we were there. We only had on child due to schools being closed today because of President's day. We just talked and read and then went outside to work on bikes, but mainly we played and rode bikes. Anyway...we were in the street as usual...and we notice there are cops everywhere and a Sporttran bus at the corner...and before we noticed one of the ladies was walking with the child that was riding her bike and two cops came at her yelling for them to get away...so we get back to our area, to watch to coming events. So we are watching and trying to figure out what in the world was going on. We figured "oh, its just a drug bust, it happens, i mean hey we are in Cedar Grove the house right next to us was burnt and shot into because it was a crack house and a drug deal went bad...so we are curious....and then we notice behind us...a cop...his gun is drawn...and think...this cant be good...He comes at us and yells for us to go inside so we go inside telling the cop..hey let us know what is going on. Inside the house we start joking wondering when we will be let out and trying to see the action taking place outside through a window. We know it has to do with the bus....simply because we saw a cop run toward the bus with her gun pointed at the bus. So a few minutes go by and the cop comes back and says it is safe for yall to go now...and says that a lady on the bus had a gun...and come to find out had threatened to shoot up the mall.

Anyway..that was my afternoon in Cedar Grove. Ah, the fun times we have!!!
If anyone is interested to see what we do we are usually there Monday-thursday by 430 til 530 or 6. and on Wednesdays we serve supper at the church across the road at 5. we the first white house on 68th street.

When Godly People Do Ungodly Things: Arming Yourself in the Age of Seduction
By Beth Moore
see related

BEWARE!!! not for the faint at heart!!!

Do you ever feel like you are at the edge of a cliff and God is just telling you to trust Him and to let go and fall into his Grace and fall into His grip and at the same time you have the Devil right there reminding you of where you have been, and the reasons God should not use you or reasons why you are not good enough, and the things you have done are just too far for God?

I will say I have been there a lot lately...

Why does it seem so much easier to believe the lies of the evil one instead and relying on what you know is true?

I believe that, as Beth Moore put it in her book When Godly People Do Ungodly Things that, a lot of us have been "Had" at some point in our life. We have fallen into the trap of the evil one. He is so deceptive we are in his trap before we even realize we have gotten away from what we know to be true.

If you have been are you are being "had" you know how hard it is to get to become "healed had" It is hard to live in the abundance Christ has given us to live, and it is hard to give it all up...i am not talking about all your possessions or all of your life i am simply saying it is so hard letting go of your past. How long must we hang on to our past and allow the devil to use it periodically instead of handing it over to God for him to use it everyday.(also words of Beth Moore) I dont ever want to go back to where I came from but I also never want to forget where I came from.

Church, we must be more accepting to the "hads" in our midsts. There are a lot more "hads" in our churches than we know, because sadly we are scared to speak up. And the sad thing is we are not scared to speak up to God, but they are scared to speak up to the Body. Why is it that our fear of man that the Word speaks so clearly about becomes the fear of the Body, the Bride? Church, we are not afraid of what unbelievers think we are scared of what judgments the church will have on us.

If you are a "had" and not quite a "healed had"...

1 Samuel 12:22 "For the sake of His great name, the Lord will not reject His people."

The Lord will not reject you no matter what you have done, because it is not about us and our great name, it is about His loving kindness that leads us to confession which leads us to something much deeper...true repentance...the kind of repentance that Uriah talked about in church tonight the repentance that leads to godly sorrow, and not the kind that leads us to beating ourselves up because we cant believe we messed up again, but the kind that leads us to turn to a new way of living. To try something new, something that just might work...turning to the cross and allowing Him to fight the battles that lead us to fall into Satan's traps. Do not trust your own strength, but only trust the strength of the ONE who raised Christ from the dead.

The Vision And The Vow: Re-Discovering Life and Grace
By Pete Greig
see related
We are reading this book called "The Vision and the Vow" And this is the Vision.

Take hold of it and chew on it for a while....

So this guy comes up to me and says "what's the vision? What's the big idea?" I open my mouth and words come out like this…
The vision?

The vision is JESUS – obsessively, dangerously, undeniably Jesus.

The vision is an army of young people.

You see bones? I see an army. And they are FREE from materialism.

They laugh at 9-5 little prisons.
They could eat caviar on Monday and crusts on Tuesday.
They wouldn't even notice.
They know the meaning of the Matrix, the way the west was won.
They are mobile like the wind, they belong to the nations. They need no passport.. People write their addresses in pencil and wonder at their strange existence.
They are free yet they are slaves of the hurting and dirty and dying.
What is the vision ?
The vision is holiness that hurts the eyes. It makes children laugh and adults angry. It gave up the game of minimum integrity long ago to reach for the stars. It scorns the good and strains for the best. It is dangerously pure.

Light flickers from every secret motive, every private conversation.
It loves people away from their suicide leaps, their Satan games.
This is an army that will lay down its life for the cause.
A million times a day its soldiers
choose to loose
that they might one day win
the great 'Well done' of faithful sons and daughters.

Such heroes are as radical on Monday morning as Sunday night. They don't need fame from names. Instead they grin quietly upwards and hear the crowds chanting again and again: "COME ON!"

And this is the sound of the underground
The whisper of history in the making
Foundations shaking
Revolutionaries dreaming once again
Mystery is scheming in whispers
Conspiracy is breathing…
This is the sound of the underground

And the army is discipl(in)ed.

Young people who beat their bodies into submission.

Every soldier would take a bullet for his comrade at arms.
The tattoo on their back boasts "for me to live is Christ and to die is gain".

Sacrifice fuels the fire of victory in their upward eyes. Winners. Martyrs. Who can stop them ?
Can hormones hold them back?
Can failure succeed? Can fear scare them or death kill them ?

And the generation prays

like a dying man
with groans beyond talking,
with warrior cries, sulphuric tears and
with great barrow loads of laughter!
Waiting. Watching: 24 – 7 – 365.

Whatever it takes they will give: Breaking the rules. Shaking mediocrity from its cosy little hide. Laying down their rights and their precious little wrongs, laughing at labels, fasting essentials. The advertisers cannot mould them. Hollywood cannot hold them. Peer-pressure is powerless to shake their resolve at late night parties before the cockerel cries.

They are incredibly cool, dangerously attractive

inside.

On the outside? They hardly care. They wear clothes like costumes to communicate and celebrate but never to hide.
Would they surrender their image or their popularity?
They would lay down their very lives - swap seats with the man on death row - guilty as hell. A throne for an electric chair.

With blood and sweat and many tears, with sleepless nights and fruitless days,

they pray as if it all depends on God and live as if it all depends on them.

Their DNA chooses JESUS. (He breathes out, they breathe in.)
Their subconscious sings. They had a blood transfusion with Jesus.
Their words make demons scream in shopping centres.
Don't you hear them coming?
Herald the weirdo's! Summon the losers and the freaks. Here come the frightened and forgotten with fire in their eyes. They walk tall and trees applaud, skyscrapers bow, mountains are dwarfed by these children of another dimension. Their prayers summon the hounds of heaven and invoke the ancient dream of Eden.

And this vision will be. It will come to pass; it will come easily; it will come soon.
How do I know? Because this is the longing of creation itself, the groaning of the Spirit, the very dream of God. My tomorrow is his today. My distant hope is his 3D. And my feeble, whispered, faithless prayer invokes a thunderous, resounding, bone-shaking great 'Amen!' from countless angels, from hero's of the faith, from Christ himself. And he is the original dreamer, the ultimate winner.

Guaranteed.

Now what is your Vow?

I know I havent updated in a long time and I am sorry for that. It has been crazy here. We are running from one place to another.

This week we are doing 2 vacation Bible Schools a day. One in the "rich" part of Cleveland and the other in the "ghetto" part. The one at night is over at like 8:30 and here it is still light at that time, but we have to leave before it gets dark because it is dangerous in that particular area, but the kids are just begging for love. It was really hard to leave them tonight. I cant imagine what it will be like at the end of the week.

This is really short and i am sorry for that, but i am completely exhausted. I will update more later.

Thanks for the prayers and support.
